Former Player Drafted to CPL Club Forge FC
Union FC is immensely proud to hear that former alumni, José Da Cunha has been selected by Forge FC in the inaugural Canadian Premier League U-Sports draft.
As the first pick of the second round in the Canadian Premier League (CPL) U-SPORTS draft (On January 29th) José was selected by current and back to back CPL Champions, Forge FC of Hamilton. We are delighted!
José was a part of the club for our 2018 NCAA March Break Tour, which saw us play the former NCAA champions Akron Zips, former NCAA champion and recent back-to-back finalist Maryland Terrapins, and reigning champions Georgetown Hoyas.
Moving on to play College Soccer at Cape Breton University in Sydney, Nova Scotia, José is the first of our former tour squad to sign professionally, with a further 8 NCAA/U Sports (Canadian NCAA equivalent) players from the 2018 tour.
He becomes the second former player to be drafter by a professional Club, following Deanne Rose being selected by the NC Courage of the NWSL earlier this month!
Everybody connected with the Club sends our congratulations to José and we look forward to hearing more exciting news in the future.
